After a busy eight year hiatus
Geoff is stepping back into our house and manning some pans. In 2000 he
established The Blue Toque Diner, became a father in 2003, helped to
build up Fernie’s Brickhouse Grill, and, this year just passed, the
bistro at Creston’s Skimmerhorn Winery. "I am so looking forward to
coming back to work with Sandra and Kir, and learning some new chops
from the rest of the kitchen crew."
Originally from Ontario, Geoff has called the
Rockies home for most of his life. And convinced his folks to retire to
Fernie by twisting their rubber arms. "Living in the mountains is a
dream come true. And it’s a joy to come to the kitchen and translate
that pleasure to the plates we present."
Geoff was drawn to the Rockies by tales of big
skis, big lines, and small crowds. He then fell into cooking "...as a
way to keep warm, fed, and housed, with time off for a few
adventures...the biggest of which I am in the middle of, raising my
daughter to be a true Kootenay gal."
